2011 Citroen C4 Early Illustration

While the DS models got all the attention of car enthusiasts around the world, Citroen is also working on a bunch of different cars that are expected to be released in the upcoming years, just like the ones included in the DS line. One of the these is the next generation Citroen C4, a model which is projected to go on sale in 2011 as model year 2012.

Obviously, there are no details at this time, but here is the first illustration (courtesy of Auto-Plus) that gives us a glimpse into how the upcoming Citroen might look like. As you can see for yourselves, the car will bring several modifications compared to the current C4, included a redesigned front fascia, with new headlights, reshaped grille and new front bumper, and new rear back.

As for the engines, nobody knows for sure which are the powerplants to reach the upcoming C4 range but, given the current industry trends, both diesel and gasoline units, especially focused on fuel economy and CO2 emissions, are likely to step in. A diesel hybrid could be produced as well.

According to a report by autosblog.fr, the car is expected to released sometime in 2011, with the Frankfurt Auto Show likely to be the auto show to host the official unveiling of the production C4. However, the first prototype could arrive even sooner, probably in early 2011, with the Geneva Auto Show one of the most probable scenarios.

Unfortunately, details are still limited for the time being, so we're still waiting to see something official from the French manufacturer. More information is expected to be released next months, so keep an eye out for the news.
