2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible to Be Auctioned

We know, there is something twisted about the title of this piece. Even so, it is entirely true. Some good months before the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is expected to be launched on the market (word is it will be released in March next year), and an unknown period of time before the vehicle is officially introduced, Chevrolet is planning to auction the second 2011 Camaro Convertible produced for consumer sale.

However, on the auction block in Las Vegas this weekend the American manufacturer will only bring the Camaro Convertible Concept, the one on which the production version is based. Meaning, more or less, that the lucky winner of the bid will be out for a blind date, purchasing a car he or she has not seen yet, and for a lot of money.

Of course, being a Camaro, and a convertible one on top of that, will pretty much worth the bid, regardless of its final value. Add to that the fact that the proceeds from the bid will be donated to the YMCA of Southern Nevada, an organization which aims to “promote healthy living and foster a sense of social responsibility,” and the whole deal begins to sound like a hit.

There is however an even better reason for those willing to participate in the Barrett-Jackson Auction on Friday, September 24, at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, to do so. We said something earlier about the winner receiving the second 2011 Camaro Convertible produced for consumer sale.

This is because the first one will get a chance at stardom by being used by GM for “historical purposes.”

We reckon any car meant to enter the history books is worth the money, any money, even if you don't know what you're buying. So, off to Vegas!
