Chevrolet was present at the Camaro5Fest, an that is believed to have set a record for the largest meeting of 2010 Camaro owners, as several members of the GM Camaro staff took part in the parade.

The Camaro5Fest, hosted by the Camaro5 on-line community, saw over 500 2010 Camaros taking a drive in Valdosta, Georgia, on April 16. Over 1,000 people attended the event, driving their fifth generation Camaros from across the U.S. and Canada to Valdosta.

Multiple members of the Camaro team were present, including Camaro Chief Engineer Al Oppenheiser, Vehicle Line Director Peter Kosak, Camaro Marketing Manager John Fitzpatrick, and Camaro Product Manager Cheryl Pilcher. The team set off from Detroit driving two Camaro Transformers Editions, two Camaro Synergy Special Editions and a standard 2010 Camaro. In addition to that, the crew used the occasion to tease fans, as its vehicle convoy also included the VIN 002 of a 2011 Camaro.

The Camaro5Fest started with a cruise through the streets of Valdosta, with Oppenheiser leading the three miles long Camaro pack. Residents welcomed the Camaros and the local Police escorted them through the city. In the second day of the event, the fans took a drive to South Georgia Motorsports Park for a car show, drag races and autocross competitions. The day ended with the Camaros being driven on the 1/2 mile oval race track.

It was an incredible opportunity to see the passion and enthusiasm owners have for the new Camaro,” said Fitzpatrick. “This was such an exciting event that I would not be surprised to see more than 1,000 cars at next year’s Camaro5Fest.
