Topless is always a good thing, especially when it comes to badass....cars, like the Chevy Camaro. The convertible version of the muscle car is one of the most anticipated open top vehicle in the U.S. and now it is here. Well, not exactly here, but on Facebook.
As GM officials confirmed almost a year ago, the vehicle will start rolling off the production line in the first quarter of 2011, two years after the coupe version came to the world. The car will be assembled at the company’s Oshawa plant.
It will be available in three different versions (just like the coupe): LS, LT and the mighty SS. The first two will use a 3.6 liter V6 engine that uses direct injection and variable valve timing and delivers 300 hp & 273 lb-ft of torque, while returning a highway fuel consumption figure of 23 mpg. This can be mated to a six speed manual ‘box or to a six speed automatic transmission.
The top of the range SS version will be powered by one of the two V8 powerplants (depending on the transmission choice): a 6.2 liter, delivering 400 hp & 395 lf-ft of torque (mated to a six speed automatic gearbox) or a 6.2 liter that offers 422 hp & 408 lb-ft of torque (with a six speed manual transmission).
We are now looking forward to the official (on- or off-line) presentation of the vehicle, but it looks like Chevy is using the "there is no convertible in the room" approach...
