Following the release of the revised X5, German carmaker BMW released details of the M package meant for the reinterpreted SUV. Scheduled to be presented at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, the package includes alterations to the exterior, interior and chassis.
From the technical perspective, the package boasts a high-speed set-up and sporty suspension settings, emphasized by the 19-inch M light alloy rims in V-spoke design (or, alternatively, M light alloy wheels in 20-inch format), either in two colors or in burnished finish.
Visually, the package consists of larger air inlets in the front apron, M Aerodynamics Package and the M entry strips, BMW Individual Exterior Line in satinised aluminum for the surrounds of the side windows and the BMW Individual roof railing in high gloss Shadow Line.
On the inside, the M leather steering wheel, M driver footrest, the interior strips in fine lengthwise brushed aluminum design and the anthracite-colored BMW Individual roof liner make the package stand out.
Nothing will change under the hood, where the X5 will pack a choice of four engines. The SUV will come as xDrive50i, xDrive35i, xDrive40d and xDrive30d, all featuring EfficientDynamics and eight-speed automatic transmission as standard.
Without the M Sport Package, the X5 will be priced in the US in between $46,675 for the X5 xDrive35i and $59,275 for the X5 xDrive50i..
autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
