Audi launched the 2011 A8 a few days ago in Miami and the car is expected to go on sale globally in 2010. Today, the company revealed UK pricing for the new sedan which is likely to hit local stores next spring, with prices to rang in between £54,760 and £66,240 ($90,825 and $109,865).
As we told you yesterday, the range will include a total of four engines, each of them optimized to return the best possible fuel consumption without neglecting engine performance. For example, the 3.0-liter TDI unit delivers a maximum of 250 PS and 550 Nm of torque, while the 4.2-liter V8 TDI brings out 350 PS and 800 Nm. The entry version will be the 3.0-liter TDI configuration releasing 204 PS.
The petrol configuration is the 4.2-liter FSI V8 unit that now develops an output of 372 horsepower and 445 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. Translate this into performance figures and you get a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.7 seconds and an electronically-limited maximum speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
Each of the aforementioned engines will be connected to an 8-speed tiptronic transmission.
The range will be offered with a wide array of features, including Adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, Night vision assistant with pedestrian detection highlighting, Audi lane assist, Audi side assist, ESP stability control with electronic all-wheel-drive torque vectoring, Audi braking guard, automatic emergency braking and reversible belt tensioners.
The car will be launched in the United States as well, but the official launch won't take place sooner than late 2010.
