The Paris Auto Show which opened its doors today has been selected by American manufacturer Chevrolet as the perfect venue to showcase its models for the future years in Europe. This year more than ever, the carmaker has more than one aces up its sleeve.

One of the those aces in the Captiva, a facelifted and better version of the existing model. To be launched onto the market in the first months of 2011, the Captiva will be offered with a mildly redesigned exterior and a freshened engine range.

Under the hood of the model will be offered one petrol engine and two turbo-diesel variants, the same petrol-diesel ratio as the one used by the carmaker for its first MPV for the European market, the Orlando.

The petrol engine offered on the model is a 2.4l unit which develops 171 hp, while the diesel unit, the 2.2l, will be offered in two different power levels: 163 or 184 hp. The engines will be paired to either a new manual or automatic six-speed transmission.

The 7-seater SUV is equipped with Hill Start Assist and an electric park brake, prism style headlamps and integrated LED turn signals and 17 to 19 inches wheels.

The interior has been designed with a wrap-around design and tweaked to include an ice-blue back lighting. On the outside, Chevrolet is ready to offer new color choices.

The American manufacturer will announce the prices for the new SUV as the official release date draws nearer. Additional details regarding the changes brought to the model are also to be announced at a later date.
