Referring to Lexus’ Pre-Crash Safety system, the manufacturer made some modifications in order to support the pre-crash seatbelt and brake assist functions with pre-crash brake technology.
The front seats received upgraded active headrests to better react in case of a rear-end impact and reduce the risk of whiplash injury. The system is activated by the ECU when a rear-end crash is detected.
“The inflator slides a piston into the headrest, unlocks the mechanism and projects the headrest forwards and upwards to support the occupant’s head and reduce the risk of whiplash injury,” read the company’s press release.
Moving to the design part, the 2010 Lexus GS 450h underwent a series of minor aesthetic changes that make the car more distinctive.
“The hybrid-blue rear lamp clusters have been modified to incorporate larger, transparent outer lenses and a new 18-inch alloy wheel design has been introduced for the SE-L. In the cabin there is a new hybrid-blue backlit stop/start button and the choice of a new Venaro Grey semi-aniline leather upholstery option, with contrasting black stitching and grey bird’s eye maple wood grain trim,” Lexus says.
Lexus has also provided three new additions to its exterior color catalogue, namely the Vanilla Mist, Richmond Green and Atlantic Blue.
In terms of entertainment, the revised GS 450h features a new 40GB HDD with incorporated navigation system that supports Europe-wide coverage and traffic information capture available in each country. The new sound systems (the 10-speaker Lexus premium package or the 14-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound System) both support 5.1-channel surround sound, DAB, USB and audio jack plug connectivity and Bluetooth with audio streaming function.
