2010 Lacetti Premiere ID Launched

GM Daewoo yesterday rolled out the 2010 Lacetti Premiere compact sedan, a model that will go on sale in October. Lacetti Premiere ID (which stands for Identity) is powered by a 1.8-liter ECOTEC III engine that generates 142 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 175 Nm of torque at 3,800 rpm.

GM Daewoo says the engine has been especially optimized to return reduced emissions and consumption, with first figures pointing to a fuel efficient of 7.5 l/100km (31.3 mpg).

"With demand for compact cars growing, the Lacetti Premiere ID will strengthen GM Daewoo’s compact sedan lineup," said Rick LaBelle, GM Daewoo Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. "Along with the current Lacetti Premiere 1.6 and Diesel, the new Lacetti Premiere ID, which takes driving performance to a new level, will give consumers yet another reason to choose our global compact."

Beside the 1.8-liter engine, the car is also offered with .6-liter gasoline and 2.0-liter diesel units, the company said in a release. There is a six-speed automatic transmission as standard, while a six-speed Hydra-Matic automatic unit is offered as optional.

"Another notable feature is speed-sensitive Rack Electric Power Steering (R-EPS), which is newly tuned for more responsiveness with good on-center feel and driver feedback. This new electric power steering system runs off the battery rather than the engine, reducing engine load,"
GM Daewoo said.

The car is offered in two trim levels, SX priced at $13,395 and CDX sold for $14,144. The 2.0-liter configuration comes with a price tag of $14,144 for the SX (M/T) and $16,224 for the CDX (A/T).
