2010 Hyundai Equus Sedan to Cost $96,000

Even if the popular Genesis is a fairly new model on the market, Hyundai gets ready to launch the all-new Equus sedan, a luxurious limousine that will be initially launched in the South Korean market. Despite the fact that it will compete with Mercedes S-Klasse, BMW 7 Series or Lexus LS, the Equus will have one of the highest price tags in Hyundai's current lineup, according to a report by Hyundai-Blog. The top version, powered by a 5.0-liter V8 and featuring all available options, will cost won 130,000,000 (that's about $96,000) in South Korea, the aforementioned source wrote.

However, note that this is only the top version that comes with the highest equipment level, so cheaper variants will also be available.

More importantly, the first Equus models will come with a choice of two engines, a 3.8-liter Lambda V6 and a 4.6-liter V8, while a later version
will feature the 5.0-liter V8 unit. This powerplant will develop a maximum power of more than 420 hp, with really impressive performances: 0 to 100 km/h acceleration done in less than 6 seconds and a maximum speed of approximately 250 km/h.

And beside all of these, the South Korean manufacturer also plans to increase the dimensions of the first models. Current dimensions are 5160mm – length, 1900mm – width, 1495mm – height and 3045mm – wheelbase.

In terms of equipment, the upcoming Hyundai Equus luxury sedan will feature Pre-Safe seatbelts, LED headlights, Lane Departure Warning System and Vehicle Stability Management II.

The 2010 Hyundai Equus sedan is expected to arrive in Hyundai's domestic market in the next few months, while the North American industry is set to receive the new model in late 2009 or early 2010.
