2010 Geneva Auto Show: Skoda Fabia vRS

Skoda has unveiled the vRS hot versions of the Fabia hatchback and Fabia estate at the Geneva Auto Show.

The vRS incarnations of the Fabia feature a sport suspension system and are powered by the Volkswagen Group’s 1.4 liter supercharged & turbocharged engine that develops 180 HP. The unit is matted to the seven speed DSG dual clutch transmission. The engine is a premiere for the Skoda brand.

The power is being handled through an XDS electronic front differential that simulates the limited-slip function. The powertrain allows both versions of the Fabia vRS to reach the 100 km/h mark in 7.3 seconds and keep on accelerating until 140 mph (225 km/h) - the estate version manages to reach a top speed of 141 mph. The hot versions of the Fabia return a fuel economy figure of 36.7 mpg (6.4 liters/100km).

The vRS versions of the Fabia come with a redesigned sport bumper that features new fog lamps and integrated LED lights. The cars also use a new rear bumper that houses a rear diffuser and a dual exhaust. The hot versions ride on 17 inch rims and will come dressed in a contrasting color scheme.

The Fabia vRS hatch and estate use height-adjustable sport seat to accommodate their passengers and feature an Onyx dashboard theme. The cars pay special attention to the driver, as he gets to play with a leather-finished sports steering wheel featuring gearshift paddles and stainless steel pedals.

The cars’ standard equipment list also includes a tire pressure monitoring system and an uphill start assist function for the DSG gearbox.
