2009 Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair

This year, now in its fifth edition, the Art Car Boot Fair wll be held on June 14, on 146 Brick Lane E1. The theme of this year's event is in line with the automotive world: the credit crunch and how to take advantage of amazing bargains.

The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair announces its full line up of amazing artists, fashion designers, performers and rarities, such as Sir Peter Blake, Gavin Turk, Bob & Roberta Smith and Pam Hogg, are joined by Natasha Law, Donald Urquhart and Pearce & Ramsay.

Despite the financial crisis, any collector can afford a little something from the fair this year, from Bob & Roberta Smith’s large scale versions of pound notes at inflated prices, to Donald Urquhart carrying out his unique brand of performance art.

Curator Karen Ashton comments: “This year the Art Car Boot Fair line-up is possibly the most exciting ever, we’ve kept everything that works the best and added some exciting newcomers, fresh, raw talent to re-new ourselves without losing any of our energy or sense of fun. The 2009 Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair is definitely gearing up to be the best event of the year, just add sun!”

Sir Peter Blake will be transforming found objects, mounting them on plinths and placing them in a miniature sculpture park, while artist Nick Reynolds will sell recession piggy banks. Wilma Johnson will offer her artworks for 99p, and even a buy five, get one free promotion.

Miss Led, hot young graffiti artist will personalise anything you bring to her boot all for a tenner, while street artist Swifty will be selling his ‘V for Vauxhall Viva’ collages from the boot of his classic green Viva.
