Golf, Polo, Passat, Jetta, these cars are all decent cars for decent people, but pretty joyless. Volkswagen is a market leader of sorts and has no reason to rock the boat, with crazy designs and sportier vehicles.
In fact, they don’t have any sort of sportscar whatsoever, and nor will they have now that BlueSport is canceled.

But in 2005, VW did try its hand at going crazy a bit, with the EcoRacer Prototype. Unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show on Octover 22nd, 2005, the car featured a carbon fiver body which could be a coupe, a raodster and even a window-less speedster.

Powered by a TDI motor, it would reach 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h, even though it only required 3.4 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.

This hot little yellow car deserves our attention again and is thus the pic of the day.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
