As we reported earlier, the new X5 is lighter than its predecessor. That brings some interesting issues to light. Since the car will be easier to 'carry around', BMW decided to offer its customers a 4-cylinder diesel engine.
This new engine will have 218 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque coming out of its 2-liter displacement. With these numbers, the X5 will return an average fuel consumption of just 5.9 l/100km (39.8 mpg) and that is impressive.

Furthermore, this new engine will join the others and will comply with the EU6 emission standards, releasing just 149g CO2/km.

Along with the engines we told you about earlier, the 2-liter unit will be joined by the xDrive35i version with a 3-liter petrol engine developing 306 HP and 400 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque and the xDrive40d model with a 3-liter diesel unit developing 313 HP and 630 Nm (460 lb-ft) of torque.
