German automaker BMW has unveiled the all-new 2014 X5. Set to hit the market later this year, the third-generation Sports Activity Vehicle promises to set the new standard for luxury, versatility and driving dynamics.
So what’s new on the 2014 BMW X5 you ask? Well, on the outside, the new F15 sports a redesigned front end, restyled wheel arches and an aerodynamically enhanced body. The familiar interior has become more spacious thanks to the vehicle’s increased dimensions, gaining both passenger room and a larger boot.
But the most important change has taken place in the engine compartment, because the new X5 can now be ordered with rear-wheel drive for the first time as the sDrive35i, which provides 300 hp from a turbocharged 3.0-liter six cylinder engine. For the time being, the 2014 X5 will be offerend with three different engines, the other two being the xDrive50i (twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 with 450 hp) and the M50d (3.0-liter diesel with 381 hp).
Several technology updates were also fitted to BMW’s latest iteration of the X5, with the company’s ConnectedDrive now including Head-Up Display with full spectrum of colors, Night Vision with human and animal detection and Dynamic Light Spot, Lane Change Warning, Collision and Pedestrian Warning. Other safety and conveniece features are also available, and you can check them out in the attached press release.
