One of the many reasons for which we regret the late Scottish WRC Champion Collin McRae is his “If in doubt... flat out” teaching. Today we’re here to show you how that applies to an entire different area of the car world, namely the muscle car zone.
The footage below brings a pair of Camaros that shows a massive generation gap. In the Black corner, we have a 1969 incarnation of the Chevy, while in the also-Black corner sits a 2012 5th-gen Camaro.

Fret not, as we said, the generation gap between the two is easily dealt with using a ton of power, twin-turbo insanity and a bit of welding used to hold the pedal to the metal.

The retro Camaro is actually a restomod, being animated by a 408 cubic inches LSX V8 that works with a pair of 66-mm turbos. The result is a pleasing 1,200 hp. As for the other Camaro, this also uses twin turbines to deliver no less than 1,300 hp.

The two are thrown at each other and, despite all the differences between them, it all goes down to a turbo boost battle. Its funny how the two appear to be braking at times, such is the violent nature of the moments when they come off the boost.

This was a trap speed race and despite the Camaros being fairly close to each other, one of them managed to outrun the other. The trap speeds they achieved? 188.6 mph and 182.78 mph, but we won’t spoil the fun of the clip by matching the times here.
