A 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible that's been going through a lot lately started the difficult search for a second chance online, hoping someone sees it and doesn't mind continuing the restoration from where the previous owner left off.
The car is rough but is a work in progress. The cowl tag and the VIN plate could make some people walk away, as they don't indicate it's a genuine SS.

However, eBay seller Classic Cars of SC, who has previously posted some very intriguing projects, guarantees it's a true SS, but the vehicle was wrecked in the side approximately three decades ago.

A previous owner kicked off the restoration, cut the body in half, and installed a new cowl and floor pan as they were planning to bring the car back to the road. They never finished the project, and after the owner passed, the Impala was moved into a barn. It was purchased a few months ago, with the seller explaining they got another 1964 Impala project and a 1964 Pontiac convertible specifically to continue the overhaul.

The car received more professional touches, including a good cowl and floor pans, new front fenders, and a hood. The work on the car didn't turn it into a road-worthy vehicle, but anyone can continue the overhaul from where it left off. Based on the provided photos, this Impala is a solid project, and a Super Sport enthusiast could easily finish the restoration.

We're not getting any information on the engine, though the eBay summary indicates the Impala comes with a 327. It's unclear if the mill is still around or if the 327 was the engine fitted on the Impala when it rolled off the assembly lines.

If the 327 is missing, you might want a true SS-worthy engine. The 409 was the best engine choice on the 1964 Impala, and the 425-horsepower version was a perfect match for the Super Sport. A big block always fits an Impala SS like a glove, and if you want to install a period-correct engine, the 409 is the right way to go.

The 327 was available on the Impala with 250 and 300 horsepower options, offering a good power and economy ratio. It became one of the most popular choices on the Impalas sold in the first half of the decade alongside the base 283.

The eBay seller believes $20K is a fair price for this solid Impala SS convertible, but they also enabled the Make Offer button, hoping you'll send your offer to negotiate the price if you're interested in continuing the restoration. You can find the car in Gray Court, South Carolina, and you'll need a trailer to take it home, considering its shape and the extra parts going with it.
