Remember the $10,000 Dodge Viper we showed you earlier this year? While that was an extremely ambitious project, we're here to deliver yet another Viper of this kind, but one that comes from the other end of the financial scale.
Ladies and gentlemen drag racers, meet Barney, a 1,900 hp Viper that likes to eat half-mile drag races for breakfast.
As any Viper out there, this V10 animal constantly wants to kill its driver, but this doesn't seem to bother anybody from the team that runs the car. The current Gen V Viper is an exception though, as the reptilian supercar has finally learned that life is better when you work together with your driver - here's our Dodge Viper review.
Returning to Barney, this Viper is dressed in a stunning shade of Purple that makes the thing stand out form half a mile away.
Speaking of which, the supercar took part in the recent Texas Invitational event (the one that brought us the 71-year-old Lamborghini speeder), which saw the thing putting its 1,900 hp to work in rolling start 1/2-mile conditions.
This machine comes from a developer called D3 Performance Engineering, with its V10 using a pair of generously-sized Precision turbos and working with a turbo 400 tranny.
The aim for Barney was to hit 200 mph at the end of the run, with the Dodge coming just short of reaching its target. Nevertheless, judging by the soundtrack of the runs, which seems to indicate the V10 is bouncing off the limiter, the gearing needs a few changes in order to allow the team to hit its 200 mph goal.
Even so, we're talking about a monstrously impressive piece of kit, with the soundtrack of the Viper alone being enough to sweep us off our feet. So, before you head over to that "play" button below, remember to turn up the volume.
