When people talk about a Porsche 911 Turbo that’s been modified for motorsport purposes, drag racing is certainly not the first thing that comes to mind. That would have to be a time attack.
However, the Neunelfer we are here to discuss was built for just that - going fast in a straight line. We are talking about a 996 generation Porsche 911 Turbo, one whose output is now almost three times bigger than it was when the supercar left the factory.

The flat-six at the rear of the 911 pair is gifted with 86-mm turbos that deliver 36 lbs of boost. The owner hasn't strapped the Porsche to a dyno yet, but he says the setup makes for an output of between 1,100 and 2,250 hp at the wheels.

The Porsche attended the recent Texas Invitational 175 mph Trap Attack event, where it managed to wipe out its competition. As you’ll be able to see in the video below, this Porsche devours rolling start races like nothing else.

In fact, the machine managed to climb to the top of its class. And don’t think the competition was weak. Oh no. The Porsche had to face twin-turbo Vipers going all the way up to 1,500 hp.

This story reminds us of yesterday’s Porsche 911 twin-turbo tale. You know, the one about the 964-generation 911 that delivers 1,300 hp to the rear wheels.

We are talking about a car that does monster second-gear wheelstands. No, the driver isn’t pursuing that goal, but when you’ve got the engine at the back and a lightened front end, this seems inevitable.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again - the best part about such projects is not the sheer speed itself. We also enjoy watching these people sailing uncharted waters, areas where no Porsche tuner has ever gone before.
