KAWASAKI VN900 Custom (2006-2007) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Kawasaki VN900 Classic was a mid-sized cruiser motorcycle that debuted in 2006. The bike was also known as the Vulcan 900 Classic and followed the same formula as Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha by using a smaller engine in a slightly larger chassis.

In 2006, the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer launched the Kawasaki VN900 Custom alongside the Classic model. The Custom model was more aggressively styled than the Classic model and featured several changes.

Some significant changes included the cast alloy wheels, with a solid wheel on the rear and a 21-inch nine-spoke aluminum wheel on the front, redesigned fenders, forward-mounted footpegs as opposed to the Classic's floorboards, a smaller headlight, and a drag-styled handlebar.

The bike had standard features, such as a smaller round headlight up front, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a one-piece dual seat, a dual chromed slash-cut exhaust system, and cast aluminum wheels.

In the performance department, the 2006 Kawasaki VN900 Custom packed the same 903cc four-stroke V-twin engine as the Classic model, fed by an electronically controlled fuel injection system, delivering an output power of 50 hp at 5,700 rpm and 79 Nm (58 lb-ft) torque at 3,700 rpm.

The power produced by the engine was transferred to a five-speed manual transmission with a wet multi-disc clutch that spun the rear wheel through a final belt drive.
