KAWASAKI VN900 Classic (2006-2007) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Kawasaki VN900 Classic, also known as the Vulcan 900 Classic, was a mid-sized cruiser motorcycle that debuted in 2006 and followed the formula of a smaller but capable engine mounted into a one-size-up chassis. This combination was also used by Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha on their cruiser motorcycles.

In the appearance department, the VN900 was a boulevard-styled cruiser similar to the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy or Deluxe model and was powered by a 903cc V-twin engine tied to a five-speed manual transmission.

The bike packed standard equipment, such as a 20-liter (5.3 gallons) fuel tank, the largest in its class, disc brakes both front and rear, floorboards, a fuel injection system, and a final belt drive.

Suspension-wise, the motorcycle was built around a double cradle steel frame with a 41 mm seven-position adjustable telescopic fork on the front and a uni-trak shock absorber on the rear, offering excellent handling capabilities.

As for the braking power, the bike's wheels were fitted with a 300 mm disc with a dual-piston caliper on the rear and a 270 mm disc with a two-piston caliper on the rear, providing optimum stopping power.

The 2006 Kawasaki VN900 Classic had installed a 903cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine underneath its teardrop-shaped fuel tank, delivering 54 hp with a peak force at 6,000 rpm and 81 Nm (60 lb-ft) torque at 3,500 rpm.
