HONDA Crosstourer (2011-2012) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Honda Crosstourer was an adventure motorcycle, also known as the VFR1200X, presented by Honda at the 2011 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy, and released in 2012.

The bike was powered by a 1,237cc V4 re-tuned engine version first used on the 2010 VFR1200F machine. Also, the fuel injection mapping, valve timing, and camshaft were revised to deliver less power than the VRF1200F.

The bike was available with two different transmissions, such as a conventional six-speed sequential manual unit like most motorcycles or a Dual Clutch Transmission (DTV) that allowed the rider to change gears without needing the clutch lever.

The Dual Clutch Transmission (DTC) was first used on the VFR1200F model, and like its predecessor, the Honda Crosstourer spun the rear wheel through a final shaft drive. Also, the 2012 Honda Crosstourer was launched as a competition in the adventure-touring market with the BMW R1200GS, Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere, and the Triumph Tiger Explorer.

Onto the diamond-shaped aluminum twin-spar aluminum frame, the bike had an adjustable 43 mm inverted telescopic fork taking care of the front suspension. The rear-end suspension was handled by an adjustable gas-charged Pro-Link shock absorber.

In the braking department, the bike rolled on wire-spoke wheels with two 310 mm discs and hydraulic calipers on the front and a 276 mm disc with a hydraulic caliper on the rear, offering robust and safer stopping power due to its Anti-Lock Braking System.

The 2012 Honda Crosstourer had its soul brought to life by a1,237cc liquid-cooled V4 four-stroke engine, boasting 127 hp with a peak at 7,750 rpm and 126 Nm (93 lb-ft) torque at 6,500 rpm.
