The Honda Crosstourer was an adventure motorcycle, also called the VFR1200X, introduced by Honda in 2011 at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy. The bike was released in 2012 with a re-tuned version of the engine used on the VFR1200F machine.

In 2012, Honda announced the expansion of the V4 lineup by introducing the 2013 Honda Crosstourer Special Edition, which offered all the fun and excitement of a sports tourer. The bike delivered an upright seating position with the maneuverability of an adventure motorcycle topped by a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) with more excellent functionalities.

The Honda Crosstourer motorcycle combined sports performance with touring features, such as the V4 engine configuration and amenities found on off-road machines, such as a long travel suspension and an upright riding position.

The bike came from the factory equipped with an adjustable windscreen, a one-piece dual seat, optional panniers, and a trunk. Also, the 2013 machine came in five color schemes: Special Edition livery, Digital Silver Metallic, Pearl Sunbeam White, Pearl Cosmic Black, and Candy Prominence Red.

The 2013 Honda Crosstourer Special Edition had a twin-spar diamond-shaped aluminum frame with a 43 mm inverted telescopic fork handling the front suspension, while the rear end was taken care of by a Pro-link gast-charged adjustable shock absorber.

For power, the Crosstourer had at its core a 1,237cc four-stroke V4 liquid-cooled engine with a Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system, boasting 127 hp at 7,750 rpm and 126 Nm (93 lb-ft) torque with maximum peak at 6,500 rpm.

The Honda Crosstourer was an adventure motorcycle, also known as the VFR1200X, presented by Honda at the 2011 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy, and released in 2012.

The bike was powered by a 1,237cc V4 re-tuned engine version first used on the 2010 VFR1200F machine. Also, the fuel injection mapping, valve timing, and camshaft were revised to deliver less power than the VRF1200F.

The bike was available with two different transmissions, such as a conventional six-speed sequential manual unit like most motorcycles or a Dual Clutch Transmission (DTV) that allowed the rider to change gears without needing the clutch lever.

The Dual Clutch Transmission (DTC) was first used on the VFR1200F model, and like its predecessor, the Honda Crosstourer spun the rear wheel through a final shaft drive. Also, the 2012 Honda Crosstourer was launched as a competition in the adventure-touring market with the BMW R1200GS, Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere, and the Triumph Tiger Explorer.

Onto the diamond-shaped aluminum twin-spar aluminum frame, the bike had an adjustable 43 mm inverted telescopic fork taking care of the front suspension. The rear-end suspension was handled by an adjustable gas-charged Pro-Link shock absorber.

In the braking department, the bike rolled on wire-spoke wheels with two 310 mm discs and hydraulic calipers on the front and a 276 mm disc with a hydraulic caliper on the rear, offering robust and safer stopping power due to its Anti-Lock Braking System.

The 2012 Honda Crosstourer had its soul brought to life by a1,237cc liquid-cooled V4 four-stroke engine, boasting 127 hp with a peak at 7,750 rpm and 126 Nm (93 lb-ft) torque at 6,500 rpm.

The Honda VFR1200X, also known as the Honda Crosstourer, was an adventure motorcycle presented by Honda at the 2011 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy. From the factory, the bike came equipped with a re-tuned version of the engine first used on the 2012 Honda VFR1200F machine.

The re-tuned engine featured revised fuel injection mapping, camshaft, and valve timing to deliver lower output than the VFR1200F. The Japanese motorcycle maker claimed that the new machine produced 127 hp instead of 170 hp but with the output power focused at lower and middle engine revs.

For the Honda Crosstourer, were available two transmissions, such as the conventional six-speed sequential manual transmission packed by most motorcycles and a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) that allowed the rider to change gears manually without engaging the clutch lever or letting the gearbox choose the appropriate gear.

The Dual Clutch Transmission (DTC) was first used on the VFR1200F model, and like its predecessor, the Honda Crosstourer was fitted with a final shaft drive. Honda released the Crosstourer to compete in the adventure-touring market with the Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere, Triumph Tiger Explorer, and the BMW R1200GS.

In 2011, Honda released the V4 Crosstourer Concept, the world's first adventure tourer. The machine was unveiled at the 2010 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy, and shared the V4 engine and the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) with the VFR1200F but also offered an upright riding position with excellent maneuverability.

Like the VFR1200F, the first model in Honda's range that packed the iconic V4 engine, the 2011 Honda V4 Crosstourer Concept packed the same engine. The V4 Crostourer Concept was the first adventure tourer machine fitted with a powerful and compact four-cylinder V-engine.

After the VFR1200F, the Honda V4 Crosstourer Concept was the second Honda machine fitted with an innovative transmission system and the first time in the adventure touring category to see this technology.
