HARLEY-DAVIDSON Super Glide (1972-1973) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Harley-Davidson Super Glide was a factory-made custom motorcycle manufactured from 1971. The bike was made by combining the front end from Sportster machines with the frame and rear suspension from the FLH Electra Glide.

The bike was made from bits and pieces from several machines, including the FLH Electra Glide's frame, rear suspension, drivetrain, engine accessories, and XLH Sportster's front fork, headlights, and brakes.

The first Super Glide was released in 1971 and was not received wheel due to its boattail design. The second model was released in 1972 and didn't feature any changes whatsoever, featuring the same specifications.

In the appearance department, the 1972 Harley-Davidson Super Glide rolled on wire-spoke wheels and packed a buckhorn handlebar, a front steel fender, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a single-piece dual seat, and a two-into-one exhaust system.

The 1972 machine was powered by the same 1,207cc four-stroke V-twin air-cooled engine, delivering 65 hp with maximum strength at 5,500 rpm. The power was delivered to the rear wheel through a four-speed manual transmission and a final chain drive.

A telescopic fork on the front end operated the bike's handling. The rear end was handled by dual side-mounted shock absorbers.

The 1972 Harley-Davidson Super Glide was fitted in the braking department with a front and rear drum braking unit.
