Production years: 2011, 2012
Since 2009 Ducati has manufactured the Streetfighter, a family of motorcycles based on the discontinued top model of the brand, the Ducati 1098. In 2011 Ducati released the 848 model, which targeted people with a taste for a less extreme design compared to the big Streetfighters.
In 2012 Ducati shook hands with the German firm Mercedes-AMG and baked a motorcycle as a combination between the Ducati Streetfighter 848 and the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG. Fresh pulled out of the oven, the new creation of the two companies was named Ducati Streetfighter 848 AMG Special Edition. The freshly baked masterpiece was a pleasure to the eyes, with a stunning paint scheme shared by the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG. The 848 AMG Special Edition shared its mechanical features with the base Streetfighter and was not made available for purchase.
The 848 AMG has at its heart the 849cc four-stroke DOHC Desmodromic liquid-cooled engine linked to a six-speed manual transmission delivering an output of 132 hp at 10,000 rpm and 94 Nm (69 lb-ft) at 9,500 rpm.
For suspension, the model has a 43 mm Marzocchi fully adjustable upside-down fork on the front, Sachs fully adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage on the rear, and an aluminum single-sided swingarm.
In the braking department, the model has two Brembo 430mm discs, 4-piston calipers on the front side, and a 245mm disc, two-piston caliper on the rear.
The Ducati Streetfighter 848 AMG Special Edition has a dry weight of 169 kg (373 lbs) and can reach a top speed of 243 kph (151 mph).
