DUCATI Paul Smart 1000 Limited Edition (2006) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2006, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Ducati Paul Smart 1000 Limited Edition, a unique motorcycle inspired by the 1974 Super Sport 750. The bike paid tribute to the 750 Imola bike raced by Paul Smart in 1972, bringing home the well-deserved victory of the Imola 200 race.

The 2006 Ducati Paul Smart 1000 Limited Edition was manufactured in 2000 units and blended modern technology with a classic design and a race-derived Ohlins suspension system.

In the appearance department, the bike packed a silver upper fairing with a round headlight and a small windscreen, a silver-finished fuel tank and rear seat cowl, a green painted frame and swingarm, a dual black exhaust system with vertically-stacked mufflers, and wire-spoke wheels.

As for the suspension system, the bike packed a 43 mm fully adjustable upside-down Ohlins telescopic fork on the front and a fully adjustable side-mounted Ohlins shock absorber on the rear, offering excellent suspension performance and handling.

In the braking department, the bike packed the same system as Sport 1000 models, with two 320 mm discs paired to four-piston calipers on the front wheel and a 245 mm disc squeezed by a dual-piston caliper on the rear wheel.

As for the power figures, the 2006 Ducati Paul Smart 1000 Limited Edition had its heartbeat set by a 992cc four-stroke air-cooled V-twin engine that delivered an output power of 92 hp at 8,000 rpm and 91 Nm (67 lb-ft) torque at 6,000 rpm.
