The Ducati Multistrada was a series of V-twin or V4-powered touring-focused motorcycles that debuted in 2003, designed by Piere Terblanche, and competed in the market with other dual-sport machines like the BMW GS.

The Multistrada family comprised various motorcycles with different engine displacements but similar appearances. In 2010, Ducati introduced the Multistrada 1200, a machine powered by a retuned engine version used on the Ducati 1198 model.

In 2013, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Ducati Multistrada 1200S Pikes Peak, a special edition machine celebrating the second victory at the 2012 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race in Colorado, USA.

In the appearance department, the bike featured a Ducati Corse livery with a GP-style white stripe, an anodized black-finished engine guard, and a red pinstripe on the edge of the three-spoke Panigale-style wheels forged and machined by Marchesini.

In addition, the bike featured an EU-approved Termignoni carbon fiber silencer along with other carbon fiber elements, such as a race-derived low windscreen, front air intakes, front mudguard, rear hugger, and engine belt covers. In addition, the seat was detailed with red stitching that enhanced its versatility.

In the power department, the 2013 Ducati Multistrada 1200S Pikes Peak machine had its soul brought to life by a 1,198cc four-stroke V-twin liquid-cooled engine with 160 hp on tap at 9,500 rpm and 136 Nm (100 lb-ft) torque at 7,500 rpm.
