The Ducati Multistrada 1200 was a half-naked machine that debuted in 2010 alongside the 1200S and 1200S Touring models. The bike was part of the Multistrada family that, comprised various motorcycles with similar appearances and different engines.

In 2016, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Ducati Multistrada 1200S D Air, one of the safest models in the range, featuring an airbag system integrated into the rider's and passenger's vests or jackets, controlled by wireless sensors integrated into the machine.

The wireless sensors integrated into the bike scanned road conditions at any time. In case of an impact, a signal would be sent to the vest, inflating it in only 45 milliseconds, reducing the risk of severe injuries.

In the visual department, the bike came equipped with standard features, such as a front fairing with a tall windscreen, a dual headlight system, a two-piece dual seat, a single-sided swingarm, a dual exhaust system, and lightweight three-spoke wheels.
