The Ducati Multistrada 1200 was a half-naked motorcycle part of the Multistrada family that comprised various machines with different engine displacements and similar appearances. The bike debuted in 2010 and was powered by a retuned version of the Testastretta engine used on the Ducati 1198 superbike.
Over the years, the Ducati Multistrada featured several changes and modifications to enhance its overall capabilities. It was available in three versions, the standard, 1200S-Sport, and 1200S Touring.
In 2015, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Ducati Multistrada 1200S D Air, a machine that featured an integrated, intelligent safety system that connected wirelessly to the rider's and passenger's airbag jackets made by Dainese.
The wireless safety feature was a first in the motorcycle industry, using sensors integrated into the machine that constantly absorbed road information. In case of an accident, the airbags in the passenger and rider's jackets were deployed in only 45 milliseconds, reducing the risk of severe injuries.
The bike was identical to previous models in other departments, delivering the same performance specifications. Besides its new safety feature, the machine didn't feature any modifications whatsoever.
As for the power figures, the 2015 Ducati Multistrada 1200S D Air was set in motion by a 1,198cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine fed by an electronically controlled fuel injection system, boasting 160 hp at 9,500 rpm and 136 Nm (100 lb-ft) torque at 7,500 rpm.
