The Multistrada story started way back in 2003 when the Italian motorcycle manufacturer introduced the Ducati Multistrada, a series of V-twin and V4-powered touring-focused machines designed by Pierre Terblanche.
At first, the Ducati Multistrada competed in the market with other dual-sports machines like the BMW GS. Over the years, the range grew to include various motorcycles with different engine displacements and similar appearances.
In 2010, the maker introduced the Ducati Multistrada 1200, a redesigned model with a more modern package powered by a retuned Testastretta engine used on the Ducati 1198 superbike. The bike was available in three versions, the base 1200 model, the 1200S-Sport, and the 1200S Touring.
Several years later, in 2016, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Ducati Multistrada 1200, the base model of the range that came equipped with the latest technology package from the House of Borgo Panigale.
It packed the Ducati Safety Pack (DSP) that included Ducati Traction Control(DTC), Bosch Cornering ABS, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), cruise control, Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS), and a ride-by-wire system that offered four riding modes, Sport, Touring, Urban, and Enduro.
As for the power, the 2016 Ducati Multistrada 1200 had its soul brought to life by a 1,198cc four-stroke V-twin liquid-cooled engine that delivered an output power of 160 hp at 9,500 rpm and 136 Nm (100 lb-ft) torque at 7,500 rpm.
