Segment: Adventure
Production years: 2015, 2016
In 2010, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer released the Ducati Multistrada 1200, a machine that replaced the Multistrada 1100. The bike was powered by a retuned version of the engine used on the Ducati 1198 superbike and was available in standard, S, and S Touring versions.
In 2015, the manufacturer launched the Ducati Multistrada 1200, a redesigned model with new fairings and a Desmodromic Variable Timing (DVT) system. The new engine delivered better fuel efficiency and longer maintenance schedules.
A new five-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) was added, enhancing ABS, DTC, and Skyhook. It also enabled the Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) system and cornering lights at 32 kph (20 mph) and a seven percent lean angle.
As for appearance, the bike was fitted with standard features, such as a half fairing with a tall windscreen for better wind protection, a two-piece dual seat, a dual exhaust system, and three-spoke Y-shaped lightweight alloy wheels.
In the power department, the 2015 Ducati Multistrada 1200 had its soul brought to life by a 1,198cc four-stroke V-twin liquid-cooled engine with a fuel injection system in charge, delivering 160 hp with a peak at 9,500 rpm and 136 Nm (100 lb-ft) torque at 7,500 rpm.
The bike's wheels were fitted with two 320 mm semi-floating discs with radially-mounted four-piston Brembo calipers on the front and a 265 mm disc with a dual-piston caliper on the rear, offering excellent stopping power.
