DUCATI Multistrada 1000S DS (2006-2007) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2003, Ducati introduced the Multistrada rage, which in English is translated to "many roads." The range comprised V-twin and V4-powered touring-focused motorcycles designed by Pierre Terblanche that competed in other dual-sports machines like the BMW GS.

In 2005, in addition to the standard 1000DS model, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Ducati Multistrada 1000S DS, a slightly modified base model with a race-derived suspension and exotic carbon fiber elements.

The 2005 Ducati Multistrada 1000S DS was fitted with Ohlins suspension, black-finished wheels, carbon fiber front fender and belt covers, and an oversized aluminum handlebar that reduced vibrations and improved handling.

In other departments, the 1000S DS was identical to the standard model, packing standard features, such as a half fairing with an adjustable windscreen, a two-piece dual seat with a passenger grab handle, a dual exhaust system tucked under the seat, a single-sided swingarm, and five-spoke black aluminum wheels.

The bike's handling was achieved by a 43 mm fully adjustable upside-down Ohlins fork on the front and a fully adjustable Ohlins shock absorber with progressive linkage on the rear, offering excellent handling capabilities.

As for power, the 2006 Ducati Multistrada 1000S DS had its heartbeat set by a 992cc four-stroke V-twin air-cooled engine that delivered an output power of 86 hp with maximum strength at 7,750 rpm and 88 Nm (65 lb-ft) torque at 5,750 rpm.
