DUCATI Multistrada 1000DS (2006-2007) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Ducati Multistrada was a series of V-twin and V4-powered touring-focused machines that debuted in 2003. Also, the Multistrada machine competed in the market with other dual-sports motorcycles like the BMW GS.

The Ducati Multistrada 1000DS was first released in 2003 and was designed by Pierre Terblanche as an evolution of his previous design, the Cagiva Grand Canyon. In 2005, the Italian maker launched the Ducati Multistrada 1000DS, a half-naked machine with several modifications on board.

Some of the 2005 modifications included a more extended side stand, which for the bike produced between 2003 and 2004 was too short, making the bike prone to tip-over, a redesigned seat with less sharp edges and softer padding, mirrors with longer poles for better visibility, and the optional touring screen became a standard feature.

In addition to the standard model, in 2005, the Italian manufacturer introduced the 1000S DS version, with Ohlins suspension, black wheels, carbon fiber belt covers and front fender, and an oversized aluminum handlebar that improved handling and reduced vibrations.

In 2006, the manufacturer released the Ducati Multistrada 1000DS, a bike powered by a 992cc four-stroke V-twin air-cooled engine with a fuel injection system in charge, delivering an output power of 86 hp at 7,750 rpm and 88 Nm (65 lb-ft) torque at 5,750 rpm.
