The Ducati Desmosedici RR was a fully faired sports motorcycle manufactured from 2007 to 2008 in limited numbers. It was developed by the Ducati Corse department as a street version of the Ducati Desmosedici racing prototype used in the MotoGP class.

The bike was made from lightweight materials as well as the engine, which featured titanium valves and connecting rods, sand-cast aluminum alloy crankcase and cylinder heads, and sand-cast magnesium engine covers.

In 2009, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Ducati Desmosedici RR G8 Special Edition, a limited edition machine that featured graphics suggested by the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and incorporated the G8 logo of the eight to ten July summit in L'Aquila.

Ducati and Fiera Milano created the special edition machine by picking the most prestigious canvas from Ducati's range, Ducati Desmosedici RR. Besides the special graphic scheme, the special edition model had the same technical, visual, and performance specifications as the standard RR machine.

The 2009 Ducati Desmosedici RR G8 Special Edition packed standard features, such as a full fairing with a dual headlight system, a small windscreen, a single seat, an exhaust system tucked under the seat, and seven-spoke lightweight wheels.

As for power, the unique machine had installed under its fairing a 989cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine that delivered an output power of 200 hp at 13,800 rpm and 117 Nm (86 lb-ft) torque at 10,500 rpm.
