In 2013, Ducati released the 899 Panigale, a sports bike meant to replace the 848. It is the first Ducati medium-sized motorcycle that uses the Superquadro engine. The 899 is visually identical to the 1199 Panigale, and was designed to suit the needs of both novice and experienced riders of the superbike world, but also for people who need a motorcycle for everyday use.

In 2014, the first year of its production, the 899 Panigale escapes through the gates of the manufacturing plant, entering a new world. The 899’s accomplice was the 898cc, Superquadro, liquid-cooled engine delivering a power of 148 hp at 10,750 rpm and 99 Nm (73 lb-ft) of torque at 9,000 rpm.

The 2014 Ducati 899 Panigale R used the same aluminum monocoque frame as its big brother. For suspension, the 899 used fully adjustable BPF forks, 43 mm chromed inner tubes at the front, and a fully adjustable unit at the back. Working head-to-head with the ABS, the Brembo brakes take good care of the bike.

Unlike the 1199 Panigale, the 899 models were equipped with a conventional two-sided swingarm, and another wise feature was the narrower 180 mm wide rear tire that gave an advantage for agility.

The 899 Panigale was built between 2013 and 2015, and later, in 2022 was for sale with prices starting at $10.000.
