BMW S 1000 R (2014-2015) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2015 BMW released the 2015 S 1000 R model based on the RR, sharing its engine, gearbox, frame, and suspension. The BMW S 1000 R was a race-inspired motorcycle with minimalistic bodywork and had one of the lowest dry weights available on the market at the time of its release.

The model featured as standard, with technologies such as Race ABS and Automatic Stability Control (ASC), as well as two selectable riding modes, Rain and Road as standard, plus two additional riding modes as optional, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro. The R kept the asymmetrical headlights used on its bigger brother, which are the base characteristics of the RR.

The 2015 model gets its power from the 999cc four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine used on the RR but detuned for the R, matted to a six-speed gearbox, developing 160 hp at 11,000 rpm and 113 Nm (83 lb-ft) of torque at 9,250 rpm.

For suspension, the S 1000 R has a 46 mm upside-down telescopic fork with adjustable compression and rebound on the front and a two-sided aluminum swingarm with adjustable rebound damping on the rear.

In the braking, the bike has two 320 mm floating discs, four-piston calipers on the front, and a 220 mm disc, single-piston caliper on the rear.
