BENELLI 900 Sei (1979-1080) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Benelli Sei was a series of motorcycles manufactured by Benelli and masterminded by automotive designer Alejandro de Tomaso from 1973 to 1989. The series was available in 750 and 900cc displacements. In addition, the 750 model was the first production machine fitted with a six-cylinder engine.

Until 1979, Benelli sold over 3,000 motorcycles and developed the 750cc model into a 900cc version by enhancing its bore and stroke with a six-into-two exhaust system and a small bikini fairing borrowed from the Moto Guzzi Le Mans.

The maker made less than 2,000 models over four model releases and was described as "outrageous” or "flashbike. Flashbike was rare, expensive, quirky, handsome, high performance, and European and came at an MSRP of $3,995. The bike was later released under the Sei Sport designation.

The bike's visual department was characterized by standard features, like 12-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, a six-into-two exhaust system with a muffler on each side, a one-piece dual seat, and a round headlight integrated into a handlebar-mounted fairing with a small windscreen.

In terms of power, the 1979 Benelli 900 Sei had its heartbeat set by a 906cc four-stroke air-cooled six-cylinder engine mounted at its core, fed by three Dell'Orto carburetors, boasting 80 hp with a peak force at 8,400 rpm.

The bike was kept on the safe side by two 294 mm brake rotors with dual-piston calipers on the front and a 255 mm brake disc with a single-piston caliper on the rear.
