BENELLI 500 LS (1976-1977) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Benelli Quattro was a series of motorcycles manufactured under the Benelli and Motto Guzzi names from 1974 to 1986. The bike was introduced to replace the Benelli 650 Tornado and was part of the same family as the Benelli Six.

In 1977, the Italian motorcycle maker released the Benelli 500 LS, a naked 500cc motorcycle created for riders of different ages and experience levels. It was similar in design to the Benelli 500 Quattro.

The bike's visual department was characterized by standard features, such as a round headlight, a chromed front fender, a one-piece dual seat with a passenger grab handle, side-mounted rear shocks, a four-into-two exhaust system with dual silencers on each side, and wire-spoke wheels.

For suspension, the motorcycle packed a hydraulic telescopic fork on the front and five-way spring-preload adjustable shocks on the rear, providing optimum suspension performance and handling capabilities.

As for the braking performance, the motorcycle's 18-inch wire-spoke wheels were equipped with two 260 mm brake discs on the front and a 200 mm drum braking unit on the rear, providing optimum stopping power.

In terms of power, the 1977 Benelli 500 LS had its soul brought to life by a 498cc four-stroke air-cooled four-cylinder engine fed by four 22 mm Dell'Orto carburetors, boasting 49 hp at 9,300 rpm and 34 Nm (25 lb-ft) torque at 9,300 rpm.
