There's a bit of a race going on here and its object is to see who can squeeze more power out of AMG's new 4.0-liter V8 engine without any mechanical interventions.
We've shown you no further than the day before what PP-Performance has done to both the C63 and AMG GT models, and now it's time for WIMMER RENNSPORTTECHNIK to flex their muscles.

We'd also like to apologize for the capital letters - we're not shouting, it's just the way the German tuner prefers to write the company's name.

Moving on, it is pretty refreshing to see tuners who go easy on the car's exterior looks, focusing more on engine performance under an understated body. Even though looking at this WIMMER offering, it's hard to call it understated.

It's all down to the metallic red color and the nicely matched 19-inch BBS black wheels, which complement the toned-down aggressiveness of the AMG C63 S estate.

There won't be any understating once this car sets off, though, as WIMMER has worked on the engine's ECU with very impressive effects. If PP-Performance was offering 103 extra horsepower (for the S version) by means of chip tuning, a new exhaust and a sports filter, the WIMMER treatment gets 130 hp out of the V8 with just a simple remapping and an optional stainless steel exhaust.

That means that after the guys at WIMMER are done with the car, what you get is a 640 hp estate that undoubtedly goes a lot faster than it looks.

Exactly how fast, however, is a mystery, as WIMMER doesn't say anything about the C63 S's new performance figures. But if we're to extrapolate and compare the data to what the 610 hp C63 sedan from PP-Performance is capable of, we'd say the two should be pretty similar. The WIMMER estate gets more power than the PP-Performance sedan, but as standard, the estate has 0.1 extra seconds for the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint.
