Why Akio Toyoda Uses an Audi...

Throughout the day, our beloved world wide web got swamped with information regarding some sort of peculiar behavior from Toyota's head honcho, Akio Toyoda. As you all know by now, the respected Toyoda is to be found these days in Davos, where he is attending the 40th edition of the World Economic Forum.

There, some journalist managed to get Toyoda in front of a camera, sticked a microphone into his face and asked him about possibly the biggest recall mankind has ever seen. Humble, or just lost, Toyoda only said the following:

"We're extremely sorry to have made customers uneasy. We plan to establish the facts and give an explanation that will remove customers' concerns as soon as possible." After saying these insightful words, the countless reports on the web place Toyoda aboard a black... Audi, in what appears to be the first sign of the captain jumping ship...

Well, wrong, ladies and gentleman...

We have to admit, none of the editors from autoevolution are to be found these days in Davos because, well, the World Economic Forum is not really our area of expertise; as a consequence and in lack of any better evidence, we are unable to prove whether Toyoda drove away in an Audi or not...

But we have to ask: so what if Toyoda used an Audi to move about in Davos? After all, Audi is the official vehicle supplier of the World Economic Forum and, as we told you in the end of January, it supplies no less than 190 vehicles for the event...

So, simply put, if Toyoda used an Audi as a means of transportation, he did so because he had to. Not because he doesn't trust his own cars anymore...

Yes, Toyota's recall is serious. But not that serious... Think about it: over six million cars recalled, yet about 800 related accidents reported so far. One would call this being overcautious, not panicking...
