All forms of endurance racing are challenging, but the 24 Hours of Nürburgring takes this to an extreme. Already considered one of the most difficult racing circuits on the planet, this 24-hour race is a grueling test of both man and machine, and to show just some of what this race is all about, Nitto Tires has put together an amazing video called "Intervals."
As a fan, endurance racing goes beyond the track action, and this video captures the unique nature of watching a 24-hour race. At about three and a half minutes in length, the video includes slow motion and time lapse footage showing everything from pre-action to the post-race celebrations.

Of course, the coolest parts of this video is watching the slow-motion footage of how the cars attempt to tame the ‘Ring and its 15.8 miles (25.4 km) of road course. In between the racing footage, the reality of what goes on behind the curtain is displayed as crews try to catch every moment of rest possible.

This year’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring set a new distance record at 159 laps meaning that the winning car (an Audi R8 LM ultra) and all other cars finishing on the same lap traveled about 2,512 miles (4,035 km) over 24 hours, which is a further distance than it would take to drive from Jacksonville, FL to San Diego, CA. And that’s all while dealing with the track’s 73 turns and 200 other racecars out on the track.

Not forgotten are the dedicated fans that also make endurance racing so special, too. There’s plenty of craziness (and beer) to be had at such a race, and one fan has even set up a rotisserie using the front end of a car to roast an entire pig. Now that’s how you party!

From the grid girls to the spraying champagne, this video has it all. Check it out.
