German tuning house MTM released information of their new aftermarket kit for Volkswagen Golf 6 GTD that comprises modifications of the the engine plus the addition of a new exhaust system, brakes and rims.

First of all, the car is equipped, as you might know, with a 2.0-liter TDI unit that generates a maximum of 170 horsepower. However, thanks to a number of modifications, including the installation of a new MTM handmade stainless steel exhaust system and an ECU remap, the engine produces 205 horsepower.

The sporty look is enhanced with the help of MTM Bimoto rims and Continental XL Sportcont tires in size 235/35 19. Additionally, the car is equipped with an MTM spring kit that lowers the body by 30 mm and new 380×34mm Brembo brakes with stainless steel breaklines and 8-piston caliper.

Pricing is yet to be announced but all these modifications are likely to cost up to several thousands euro.

In default form, the 170 horsepower common rail TDI powerplant that powers the GTD, controlled via either a manual or a dual clutch transmission (DSG), allows the car to reach 100 kilometers per hour from a standstill in 8.1 seconds and helps it top at 220 km/hour. The 2.0l four cylinder turbocharged powerplant eats about 5.3l every hundred kilometers, which translates into a maximum range of 1,000 km on a single 54-liter full tank.

In the United Kingdom, pricing for the GTD starts at £21,850 RRP for the three-door version with a six-speed manual transmission. There is an extra £585 to be paid for the five-door model and a £1,305 for the one fitted with a six-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
