Back in December last year, we brought you a story about aftermarket developer Underground Racing's complete take on the Lamborghini Huracan. Aside from their 2,300 hp UR2 development car, which, due to its six-speed sequential, among others, isn't exactly fit for the street, the company also developed UR1, a project that promises to offer a melange of velocity and streetability.
The UR1 follows Sant'Agata Bolognese's dual-clutch recipe, but obviously comes with its custom ingredients. The developer has just announced it has thrown in a new series of... ingredients, using Dodson Motorsport clutches that are exclusive to their Lambos.
Last time we checked, UR1 allowed the driver to play with over 1,250 horses, but since we're talking transmissions, how is all that power translated onto the tarmac?
Underground Racing has hit the drag strip earlier this week, with the result being a new quarter mile world record for DCT Huracans. We are dealing with an 8.55s 1,320 feet pass, which you can see in the piece of footage below. And yes, the soundtrack is just as impressive as you'd expect.
"So we got a chance to get back out to the track, first time out we went low 9's with a 16 plate Dodson street clutch that we were testing, this time we went back with the 18 plate Dodson and we were able to turn the power up some. Through the 1/2 day of testing we ran approx SIX 8 second passes with some at 168+ mph. We have been working with Dodson Motorsports to develop a line of street and race clutches that will be available exclusively through Underground Racing," the tuner said.
When it comes to future plans, Underground Racing is scheduled to test a billet clutch setup next, so those of you who are following the Raging Bull side of the drag racing realm should have new reasons to rejoice soon.
