With all the stunts people are performing in or on vehicles these days, it is surprising that there are any that have yet to be successfully landed. Looking to be complete the first four-wheel vehicle to perform a ground-to-ground 360-degree barrel roll, Adrian "Wildman" Cenni gave it his best shot recently, but he came up just a little short creating a spectacular crash.
The big trick with this stunt is that Cenni is trying to land on flat ground, which removes some of the margin of error that a landing ramp would provide. Instead, he has to land all four of the truck’s tires on the sandy landing strip, but as you can see in the image above, that wasn’t the case. After the truck gets almost a full rotation, the mis-timed jump and landing results in the truck coming up just a fraction of a rotation short. Rather than landing on the tires and the suspension absorbing the impact, the truck lands on its front fender and wheel before the truck crashes wildly on the course.

As if the idea of intentionally barrel rolling a truck isn’t terrifying, check out the ramp used to do such an attempt inside the small stadium. The approach is a standard two-track ramp followed by a much taller kicker that initiates the roll. The two onboard cameras actually provide an amazing view of what it would be like to barrel roll in a race truck especially the hood-mounted camera

Fortunately, all of the truck’s safety systems worked perfectly, and Cenni emerged from his battered rig about as excited as you would imagine he would be if had actually stuck the landing. Like any true stuntman, Cenni will attempt the feat at least five more times between October 18th and December 13th.
