Yes, you read it right! The Nurburgring, or at least the company that owns it, has been declared bankrupt today, during a meeting between the Kurt Beck (Minister President of the Rheinland-Pfatz land, in Germany), his ministers, as well as representatives of the company which currently runs the ‘Ring, to find a solution for its financial turmoil.
However, rest assured that the track itself will not be closed, as this is merely a financial matter and it is such an important motoring ‘place of pilgrimage’ that it can’t simply be closed down. Now that the bankruptcy has been announced, it will go under government administration, until its problems are fixed. Some of the pointless investments may disappear (the roller-coaster, for instance) while it may receive new additions to make it financially viable once again.

Also, it brings in so much revenue that the local government, who is one of the main creditors, has no interest in closing it down, as even now when its financial stability is in jeopardy, it still makes them a lot of money, and will continue to do so as long as it’s open.
