We've been told for quite a long time that using our phones while driving might get us into fatal crashes. A recent study revealed there's something much more dangerous than chatting or texting behind the wheel: getting "lost in thoughts".
That's right folks, 62 percent of US death causing accidents involved at least one driver who was daydreaming, and only 12 percent of the crashes occurred due to mobile phone use.
These surprising results were put together by the Erie Insurance Group, who also stated that among the biggest distraction for drivers are rubbernecking, talking with other people in the car, eating, and moving an object or a pet in the car.
All told, ten percent of US automobile accident that caused fatalities involved at least one distracted driver.
