We’ve only got a month to go until Audi reveals the brand new A3 three-door hatchback in Geneva. These are the clearest photos we’ve seen so far of the C-segment contender, as it was spotted in S-Line trim while testing in Northern Scandinavia. In fact, it might only be a matter of days before we see those elongated headlights.
The big news is that the new A3 uses the brand new MQB modular platform developed by VW Group for just about every front engine compact they make. The main reason they created it is to standardize production and the parts used, but it also helps save some weight, as the A3 is going to be 80 kg lighter.
The engine range will obviously include turbocharged petrol and diesel units, but hybrid and plug-in versions are also a high probably. They’ve also recently introduced cylinder deactivation, and all their units are going to be a bit more efficient an clean.
