Spyshots: Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series

This is the latest creation from Mercedes Benz AMG’s version of the Skunk Works - the upcoming C63 AMG Coupe Black Series. It’s a bit dark, a bit moodier than a normal Merc, like it wants to kick the policeman’s hat off and ask him if he wants trouble, all while flexing its bulging biceps that are ripping through.

If you are man enough to look it in the face, your inner child will probably fall in love with it at first sight, and even though these are just some spy shots from our friends, the car paparazzi, it looks like it’s going a million miles an hour (grouse exaggeration there, we got excited).

The Black Series is undergoing testing in Germany. Thanks to an injection of testosterone, adrenaline, Bourbon Whiskey and chest hair, the 6.2-liter lump under the bonnet will develop 510 horsepower instead of the 457 hp of the regular C63 AMG Coupe. We don’t really know what torque figures will come from that V8, but it will probably be enough to power a small village. And let’s not forget that Black Series models don’t do quiet, so expect to be followed around by the sound of angry lions’ roars.

There should also be a bit of carbon fiber-based dieting, so fiddling with the suspension and...oh my God look at those wheel arches! You’ll probably pay the price when you go sign the check for one, but you’ll do it joyfully.

On a more serious note, there will be a C63 AMG Black Series saloon later on, for those who want their lunacy to come in a four-door limousine form. Both are worthy successors to the CLK63 AMG Black Series first shown in 2007.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
