2014 marks the market debut of the new X4 compact SUV and with it BMW needs to update the X3, which uses the same platform. The changes should be revealed early next year and will enter production around mid-year 2014 as a 2015 model year.
A variety of test prototypes have emerged for testing in Germany, ranging from simple models with small engines to the one above, featuring the M Sport package.
The changes aren't major, but there will be a brand new set of headlights installed on the car. The F25 X3 currently has very simple tilted trapezoidal designed headlights, but this LCI facelift model has units similar to the X5, connected to the grille and much wider.
No word on new engines yet, but we could speculate that the new TwinPower engine family see in the next MINI will also be used by the X3, albeit with a different layout. The 1.5-liter three-banger is a bit of a stretch, but that new 2.0-liter with 192 PS sound decent enough.
