At the recent 2011 Detroit Auto Show, BMW wowed the crowed with the new generation of the 6 Series Convertible. Now we can show you a sneak peak at the coupe version of the third-generation vehicle, which was spotted on the streets of Munich (Germany) almost completely without its protective armor of camo.
The new 2012 BMW 6 Series Coupe is expected to go on sale this fall, but prior to the official launch, BMW is giving the car paparazzi plenty of opportunities to see several prototypes around Munich.
This generation of vehicle is the first from the Munich-based automaker to get a full LED makeover, which will include driving lights, indicators and brake lights. If we had to guess by the double exhaust, this is one of the six-cylinder models, either the 630i or the 635d. The engine range available at the launch of the model will also include the 4.4-liter V8 that made it under the bonnet of the new 650i Convertible.
Design-wise, we can clearly see from the spyshots that the car has a flatter and smoother rear. In our opinion, BMW made a good move when they chose to drop the much-criticized Chris Bangle designed shape. The 2012 model also sports different side panels, while the front looks much more stronger, more sculpted, and more fluid.
Combining both sophistication and sportiness, the kidney-grille offers unique glass inserts along the top ridge. We’re glad that long bonnet and short overhangs that distinguish a 6 Series have not been lost. No pricing, options and packages information has been released, but BMWblog.com say they expect it to cost in the region of $90,000 in America.
